How do we join? Did we miss out on joining? Do you have room?
You can join our pack at anytime! Beacon Cub Scout Pack 3001 accepts scouts year-round, and there’s almost always room. If a den becomes too large, we may split it into smaller groups.
What day and time are the meetings? How often do you meet? Will the meeting schedule fit with my work schedule?
Dens typically meet 2 times per month. These meetings are almost always on the first two Thursday evenings of each month.
Once a month, all dens in the pack come together for a pack meeting, This is typically held on the last Thursday or Saturday of the month, depending on the planned event.
We also host a monthly hike on the first Sunday on each month, hikes are typically in the 1 - 3 mile ranges and designed to take 90 mins to two-hours. This is another great option to get to know some of the pack families.
For new Lions (kindergartners), meeting times are determined once the den forms and a leader is in place. The den leader and parents collaborate to choose a time that works best.
May we visit a meeting? Can my child see what it's like before we commit?
Absolutely! When you contact us, we’ll invite you to attend our next pack and den meetings as a guest. This allows you and your child to experience Cub Scouts before making any commitments.
What are the dues?
You can find more information on dues on our Join the Pack page.
Is this the right pack for my school/area?
There are no assigned areas for Cub Scout packs—you’re free to choose any pack that works best for your family. Factors to consider include proximity to your home, meeting schedules, and whether your child has friends in the pack.
Beacon Pack 3001 serves the greater Beacon area and welcomes scouts from all local schools and neighborhoods.
What age do you start in Cub Scouts?
Cub Scouts is open to children starting in kindergarten or first grade. The kindergarten program, called Lions, is an age-appropriate introduction to scouting. The first-grade program, called Tigers, is the full Cub Scout experience and scouts advance ranks through 5th grade.
Do you have a family scouting program (mixed boys and girls)?
Yes, we are an integrated pack of boys and girls.
What activities do you do?
Our pack typically organizes many special events during the course of the school year, in which all Scouts, parents and siblings are invited to participate (at lease one parent or guardian must accompany each scout on overnight trips):
Camping Trips
Monthly Hikes in the Hudson Valley
Winter Overnight Trip (indoor at a museum or heritage site)
Pine Wood Derby
Blue and Gold Ceremony (an annual themed celebration of Scouting)
Soda Bottle Launch Derby
Local Parade Marches
Fundraising for the Pack and Local Community
