Quick facts:
Beacon Pack 3001 accepts applications year-round.
Children in grades K - 5 are eligible to join our pack.
Yearly fees for scouting are approximately $170 with some occasional costs for uniforms and activities throughout the year.
No scout will be turned away due to an inability to pay; we'll work with your family.
Click here to apply online to join the pack.
You can also print a paper application (more information can be found here). Our preference is for scouts to apply online as it simplifies our roster and registration process but please feel free to review the PDF provided.
Regardless of how you apply, please email us at scoutpack3001@gmail.com to let us know you're interested. We’ll assign you to a den and notify the den leader, who will contact you with details about meeting times. The Cubmaster will also invite you to participate in pack activities.
Our den and pack meetings take place on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, typically at the VFW Hall on Main Street in Beacon. If you'd like to attend a meeting before filling out an application email us at scoutpack3001@gmail.com and we will reply with information on the next pack meeting and/or upcoming Sunday morning hike. We look forward to introducing your family to the joy of scouting before committing the annual fee.
Once you decide to join, we will need three things from you:
The completed application
A completed medical form
Membership dues
All children in grades K through 5 (OR ages 6 through 10) can become Cub Scouts. Once a child completes fifth grade OR turns 11, they should join Scouts BSA. Next is a bit of information on how dens are organized in Cub Scouts:
Kindergartners are Lion cubs
First graders are Tiger cubs
Second graders are Wolf cubs
Third graders are Bear cubs
Fourth graders are Webelos
Fifth graders are Arrow of Light scouts
Children who attend a non-traditional school or are home-schooled are placed by age. We can work with you to determine which den is best for your child's age and abilities.
Pack 3001 charges $170 annual membership dues.
The pack also participates in fundraising to support the costs of the activities and programs we run for the children.
Our fees and fundraising pay for things such as camping, recognition items (awards/belt loops/trophies/patches), pinewood derby, the Blue and Gold banquet, supplies for den and pack meetings, and a few other things.
It is important to say that no scout is turned away due to an inability to pay. For more information about this, talk to the Committee Chair or Cubmaster.
You will need a uniform and den level handbook. Uniforms are typically a one time purchase, while handbooks are updated each year with new activities and accomplishments for scouts to complete.
